Check out what treasures The Babes found on their latest trip to the thrift store!
Floral Print Target Top with Lace Sleeves
Emily: This floral crop top from Target has really pretty delicate lace short sleeves which is one of the reasons I love it to much. It’s flowy and looks great tucked into a skater skirt or worn untucked over a pair of jeans. I needed a pretty top that I can wear casually, but still look nice and this $3.99 top is perfect!
Ralph Lauren Sweater with Buckle Details
Emily: I almost never wear brown but the carmel color of this beautiful Ralph Lauren sweater is something that I am definitely embracing. It’s thin, and fitted, and incredibly soft. The buckles on the shoulders add an irresistibly edgy twist to this classic sweater that I could not pass up for just $4.99. I am so excited to wear this with my super high waisted jeans and my carmel leather loafers or brown healed boots.
Emily: I’ve seen mugs like this on the internet before and when I saw it while strolling past the mug section at Goodwill, I didn’t think twice. I instantly grabbed it. For $.99 this mug is a perfect addition to my mug collection. It brings me back to my childhood bedroom with my Britney Spears poster over my bed and singing “Oops I did it Again” to my family over and over and over again.
Emily: This sparkly flamingo lamp was originally priced at $5. I knew I didn’t want to spend that much on a lamp if it didn’t work, and I’m always skeptical about buying anything electric from a thrift store. So, I tried plugging it in to an outlet I saw and I was right, it didn’t work. I decided to ask the cashier about it while we were checking out, I was very polite and I asked if there was any kind of discount she could give since it doesn’t work and she gave it to me for $.99! It is such a fun addition to the pink accents in my living room!
Gap Striped Sweater with Neon Accents
Sarah: I’m a sucker for stripes and nautical style so I’m always on the lookout for pieces like this when spring is around the corner. This Gap sweater is cream with navy blue stripes and has fun accents of neon yellow around the collar and cuffs. It was a steal at just $3.99! I plan on styling this sweater with a navy blue skater skirt or jeans and a fun statement necklace!
Vintage Cape with Floral Accents
Sarah: This cape is a bit more vintage and bohemian than my typical style, but it was too cute to pass up. The body of it is a lovely brown tweed and it is accented with small panels of floral print. The big buttons are charming and the waist tie creates a very flattering silhouette. This piece was also just $3.99 and I plan to style it was skinny jeans and knee high brown boots.
I started noticing a trend in my buying habits when I used to work at a store where the only clothes you could wear from other stores had to be black. I was on a tight budget so I didn’t like buying clothes that I couldn’t wear to work. Since then, I’ve worked at 2 stores where your clothes have to be all black. My wardrobe now consists of mainly blacks, grays, and other neutrals. I love to wear color, but black always looks good no matter how dressy or casual you make it. I wear black all year round. Today, I put together a couple of outfits to showcase some of the best black pieces in my wardrobe!
I bought this romper from Urban Outfitters without even realizing that it was a romper. I was in a hurry and they had 50% off sale and I didn’t feel like trying anything on that day. When I tried it on at home I was very confused by the leg holes until I realized that I just bought the most comfortable item of clothing that I will ever own. I love how the low back can show off your favorite strappy bra. The material is so soft and comfy, but looks great when going out! I have been loving paring it with my sparkly tights and favorite boots!
I have had this t-shirt for a few years and I knew I had to buy it the moment I saw it. When I got it, I bought it 2 sizes too big so that I could wear it as more of an off the shoulder t-shirt like I’m doing here. It shows off my cage bralette and goes great with jeans or leggings when I’m going to class. It has developed some small holes on the front so I have been tying it in a knot or wearing it tucked into some high waisted jeans. These leggings were a gift; I feel like I wear them every other day. The fit is amazing and they’re thick so they feel like actual pants. They have cool details like seams going down the back and at the knees, as well as elastic panels on the hips.
This is an outfit I wear to work sometimes minus the heels. I found this crop top at TJ Maxx for only $7 and it has adorable tiny pom-poms around the neckline, sleeves, and hem. I will buy almost anything if it has pom-poms on it. A black skater skirt is an essential basic. It’s flirty, but not too sexy for work when I wear it with tights. I can pair this black skirt with almost any other top or sweater in my wardrobe and it goes with everything!
Styling an all black wardrobe is something you can do year-round. I like throwing in pops of color with my lipstick, shoes, jewelry, or a fun cardigan or blazer. How do you rock an all black outfit?? The Babes want to know!
