Today Sarah is Reviewing Bar 145, a local Columbus Restaurant!
Bar 145. Burgers, Bands, & Bourbon.
Dining out in downtown Columbus is something that my friends and I make a point of doing at least once a week; sometimes as often as two or three times a week! The restaurant scene in Columbus is just too great to miss out on! This year Restaurant Week coincided with our first week back to school so we made a point of kicking off our last semester in style!
Columbus Restaurant Week is an annual event that features over 70 local restaurants. This year the event lasted from January 12 -17 with each restaurant offering a 3-course dinner for $15 – $30 per meal depending on the location. Some of my favorite restaurants such as La Fogata Grill, Aab India, and Columbus Brewing Co. were participating this year, but my friends and I decided to try something new in honor of the event.
After much debate (there were too many excellent restaurants to choose from!) we decided to check out Bar 145, a gastro pub located just outside of downtown Columbus. In case you don’t know what a gastro pub is (I sure didn’t), Bar 145 defines it as having, “an atmosphere that is relaxed and focused on offering a particular cuisine prepared as well as the best restaurants.” In short, the food is beautifully prepared and delicious, but the atmosphere is super chill. Bar 145 specializes in, “Burgers, Bands, and Bourbon,” and I experienced all three of those things during my visit.
I chose to order the 3-course Restaurant Week menu ($20) and featured Restaurant Week drink the Bourbon Sidecar. The first course was a choice between soup and salad. I chose the Tomato Red Pepper Bisque with Grilled Cheese Croutons. The red pepper added a new kick to this classic and the tiny grilled cheese sandwiches were adorable.
Course number two was a choice between Bar 145 Meatloaf, The Simpleton Burger, and Chicken and Waffles. I decided to go with the burger because that’s what Bar 145 is famous for. It did not disappoint! The Simpleton Burger features: an all-natural beef burger, cream cheese, house-cured bacon, roasted mushrooms, and sweet onions. I was a bit skeptical about putting cream cheese on a burger, but it was a winning combo. This was one of the most unique and flavorful burgers I’ve ever had.

The third course, dessert, was a bourbon bread pudding. I don’t typically like bread pudding, but I gobbled this one up.
Bar 145 provided a fun atmosphere, served amazing food and drinks, and had a friendly staff. My friends and I can’t wait to go back! Restaurant Week will be back early next year, but be sure to take advantage of everything the Columbus restaurant scene has to offer in the mean time!
