Benefit Skincare

Emily here for my first post after a long time and I’m so excited to share my new obsession with Benefit’s skincare line. I discovered this by accident really. I didn’t go into Ulta looking for new skincare products, I went in looking for a foundation that won’t make my face look greasy at the end of the day. But after talking to one of the amazing sales people I realized I needed more of a regular skincare routine and something much gentler because my skin was actually overproducing oil after the harsh cleansers I was using and not enough moisture.

Not only are all the products packaged flawlessly but they actually have made a huge difference in the way my skin looks. I’m so glad I finally invested in a nicer skincare line. I first bought the travel kit for $24 which included 2 different cleansers, a night time and day time moisturizer, a toner, and an eye cream. I quickly bought the full sized versions of the Foamingly Clean facial wash and the Moisture Prep toning lotion. I’ll be buying the Triple Preforming facial emulsion as soon as the travel sized one runs out. There are other products in the line that I definitely want to try like the facial sunscreen and facial rehydrating mist.

There are 2 other products from Benefit that I’m loving right now! The POREfessional: Agent Zero Shine as well as the POREfessional face primer, both do an amazing job of keeping me shine free all day! I’m sure you’ll be hearing about those again from me! I definitely can’t get enough of Benefit right now (or their rainbow blow-up Sharks they have on display in store.) Now if only I could decided which foundation I like better!

Beauty Routines: Haircare

Today The Babes will be going over their typical haircare routines and discussing some of their favorite products!

Sarah’s Haircare Products

1. Kenneth’s Lighten Up Conditioner

2. Kenneth’s Maximum Volume Shampoo

3. L’Oreal Blow Dry It Quick Dry Primer Spray

4. Big Sexy Hair Play & Spray

5. Dove Dry Shampoo

Sarah: My hair is naturally straight, very fine (though I have a lot of it), and tends to get oily quickly. If I want to feel confident in my hair’s appearance I have to shower and wash it every single day. Since my hair has very little natural volume, I like to start each day with a little boost from my shampoo! I get my hair cut at Kenneth’s Salon and I’ve found that their line of products really are best for my hair. Kenneth’s Maximum Volume Shampoo gives my hair that little something extra, especially when I follow it up with their Lighten Up Conditioner. This stuff is awesome. It smells wonderful and leaves my hair feeling soft and clean. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely hate blow drying my hair! Unfortunately, for me it is a daily chore. This new blow dry primer from L’Oreal has made my routine much easier and quicker. Normally it would take me about five minutes to dry my hair, but with this product it only takes two and it doubles as a heat protectant. I really only use hair spray if I’m pinning part of my hair back or curling it, but when I do use it I use Play & Spray by Big Sexy Hair. It holds all day while still allowing for a lot of movement! I tried tons of different dry shampoos before I found Dove’s and now I am loyally committed to this brand! I use dry shampoo everyday whether my hair is greasy or not. Even on a normal day when I get up, shower, blow dry and straighten my hair I still like to spray a bit of dry shampoo on my roots. It goes a long way towards preventing my hair from getting oily throughout the day and helps to add a little extra volume. Also, it’s only $3.99 per can! Dove’s dry shampoo is hands down the best one on the market and gives you the best bang for your buck.

Emily’s Haircare Products

  1. Garnier Fructis Full Control Anti Humidity Hairspray
  1. Amika Nourishing Mask
  1. Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle
  1. Lush Squeaky Green Shampoo Bar
  1. Dove Dry Shampoo

Emily: I have super thick and puffy hair that doesn’t get greasy very often so I typically only wash it about once or twice a week. I either wear it down and use my curling wand to give myself mermaid waves or I wear it up in a bun or two. I love using Lush’s Shampoo bars which you can find my previous review of here! I then use an amazing hair mask that I found through Birchbox from Amika. It smells amazing and is super moisturizing, which I need since I don’t wash my hair often! Since my hair is so thick, even when I use a hair mask I still need something to help me detangle. This detangler from Beauty Protector, that I also discovered through Birchbox, is perfect. It smells divine and does an awesome job at detangling my mane without weighing my hair down! When I curl my hair I usually leave it that way for about 3 days. I use a curling wand (best invention ever!) and layers of this Garnier Fructis hairspray, which I’ve been using for as long as I can remember, to create the desired effect. It holds all day, isn’t sticky, and even battles humidity! And last but not least Dove’s dry shampoo is perfect for the second or third hair day. It gives your hair a refreshing boost without looking chalky. Sarah actually introduced me to it!

Mirenesse Mattfinity Lip Rouge

Mattfinity Lip Rouge

Sarah: I probably wouldn’t have chosen this color for myself when shopping for lipstick, but I was pleasantly surprised with how it looked on me! It also smells like strawberries, which was a lovely surprise! It does create a nice matte finish, but isn’t super long lasting. If you’re looking for a fun, short-wear lip color this would be perfect!

RUSK Texture Spray

RUSK

Texture Spray

Sarah: At first I thought that this was a dry shampoo, but after using it i’ve decided that it’s somewhere between dry shampoo and hairspray. I don’t use a ton of products in my hair, but this spray does add a playful bounce when applied at the end of styling. I probably won’t be purchasing the full sized product, but it was fun to experiment with!

Sarah: This stuff is awesome! It smells absolutely fantastic and leaves my hair feeling silky smooth! I’ve tried a lot of similar products, but this one has been my favorite so far. It feels very luxurious!

Micheal Todd Pumpkin Nutrient-Rich Facial Mask

Michael Todd

Pumpkin Nutrient-Rich Facial Mask

I was super apprehensive to try this product at first. I am not a fan of pumpkin in general. I was a little surprised by the fact that it smells and feels like you are putting actual mashed up pumpkin all over your face. It definitely makes your skin feel lovely afterwards but I wont be buying the full size version of this product. If you like pumpkin I definitely suggest this!

Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Heat Spray

Oscar Blandi

Dry Styling Heat Protect Spray

When I’m not wearing my hair in a bun on top of my head I curl it with a super hot curling wand! I don’t use any kind of heat protecting spray (I know I should) so I was excited to get this product and try it! I’ve used it in 2 different ways since I’ve received it. I sprayed a little of it in my damp hair before blow drying it one morning and I didn’t really notice much of a difference. I tried it again while curling my hair, spraying a little on each individual strand. It definitely helped protect my hair from the heat and it made it super shiny and healthy looking!

Nelson J Beverly Hills Argan Oil 7 Moisture Healing Mask

Nelson J Beverly Hills

Argan Oil 7 Moisture Healing Mask

This hair mask smells so heavenly. I’ve used a bunch of different similar products before and this one from Nelson J Beverly Hills is not one that I’m going to use forever but it does do a good job! In the directions it says you can put it in your hair before getting in a pool or water to protect it from chemicals and dirt. I’m excited to try that this summer at my parents pool but I think I’ll stick with my hair mask from Amika for regular use.
