Emily with one of her prints hanging up in the Canzani Gallery for SHOW: The 136th Annual Student Exhibition

Emily: The past few weeks have been insane. The last week of school I was very busy getting all of my projects done. I had my final class with a few of my friends and we all enjoyed the beautiful weather outside on campus. We all hung out for the rest of the evening, it was the perfect end to school. The weekend after I helped out backstage with all my best friends at the CCAD Fashion Show. I felt like a parent getting all emotional from seeing how much my friends have grown. I found out that night that one of my photographs was chosen to be printed and framed and hung up in the Photo Department hallway for the next year. They choose 3 student photos every year! I also found out that was one my prints (shown above) was hung up really big in the student exhibition. I took my parents to see if after graduation and I was surprised to find out that I actually have 3 different large prints throughout the gallery! Graduation was beautiful and emotional and it happened so fast, I definitely didn’t cry as much as I thought I would. Since graduation I have tried to get into a healthy morning routine by getting up early every morning to workout. i’ve been applying to a ton of jobs including product photographers, jewelry apprenticeships, retouching, and assisting. I’m going to be staying in Columbus for a while unless I get offered something else. I’m hopefully going to be visiting a few places this summer that I’m thinking about moving to eventually and I have some super exciting photoshoots happening soon! Stay tuned!

Sarah after receiving the Outstanding Senior Award

Sarah after receiving the Outstanding Senior Award

Sarah: The past couple of weeks have been a crazy blur! As a fashion major I spent the last 4 years prepping for the senior fashion show so it’s hard to believe that it’s over already. The show was incredibly fun! I couldn’t think of a better way to end my college career than displaying my work in that way and being able to celebrate all of our accomplishments with my peers. I think the highlight of my time at CCAD was when I was chosen as the Easton Town Center Fashion Award recipient! I was able to rein in the tears during the fashion show, but I expected to cry throughout the entire graduation ceremony the next day. However, when I arrived at commencement on Saturday I was much more joyful than sad. Yes, I am incredibly sad to be leaving CCAD, which has been my home for the past four years, but I know that it isn’t really goodbye. The people of CCAD are what make it so special and the bonds that I’ve forged there will last forever. I’m planning to stay in Columbus until July when I will be moving to New York to pursue my dream of becoming a lingerie or textile designer. Wish me luck!

Manicure Monday: Polka Dots

Today Emily is bringing you some pretty pastels and polkadots for todays Mani-Monday!

I just got this pretty mint-blue from Essie called Blossom Dandy! I realized I don’t really have a lot of spring colors and this color is so bright and happy, I love it!. I wanted to add a little more to it so I used a Sally Hansen nail art pen in white to create the polka dots for some quick and cute nail art!

Here’s what the babes wore yesterday!

Thrift Store Finds

Check out what treasures The Babes found on their latest trip to the thrift store!

Oversized purple button up with moon and star print

Emily: I am a huge space enthusiast. I love astronomy and all things moon and stars. I found this purple oversized button up and had to have it. It is so lightweight and comfy, it will be perfect for the summer! I’m definitely feeling the 90’s fashion vibes this summer.

boxy chiffon printed button up

Emily: This light weight chiffon top is boxy and oversized and I also love it because of the hypnotizing print! It will be great for work tucked into some black loose pants and a blazer, or with a pair of jeans or shorts!

Ralph Lauren stretchy off the shoulder crop top

Emily: I already mentioned I’m channeling my inner child recently and this top says it all. It’s Ralph Lauren so it was a total bargain at $3.99. It looks adorable with high waisted jeans and it definitely shows off my figure. The cotton material is super stretchy and will be very cool once it starts getting hot.

Vintage 100% silk jacket with metallic gold feather print

Emily: This navy silk jacket is one of my most beautiful jacket finds. The outside is 100% silk and is printed with metallic gold feathers. It zips and has these shiny gold buttons to finish it off. It’s super comfy and cool and will be perfect for cool nights and for the fall!

Red & white gingham tank top

Sarah: Americana prints are all the rage this spring! I can’t wait to incorporate this piece into a vintage or nautically inspired outfit!

Vera Wang printed dress

Sarah: I’m a big fan of tea length dresses and this one has a very unique hemline. I also love print and pattern mixing so I was immediately drawn to this dress! I plan to style this piece with a skinny belt and denim jacket.

Coldwater Creek t-shirt

Sarah: This t-shirt was brand new! It still had the original tags! This navy blue top is so soft and comfy, but features lovely feather motifs along the neckline that dress it up a bit.

St. John’s Bay light weight jacket

Sarah: This light weight jacket is perfect for this time of year! It’s a lovely shade of blue and the style and cut are very flattering. For only $3.99 this jacket was a steal!

Converse striped top

Sarah: This cotton top is perfect for spring. The vertical stripe print is lovely and the neckline ties are completely adjustable. I’m actually wearing this top today along with the blue jacket featured above!

Gap tank top

Sarah: I was drawn to the lovely color of this top, but I purchased it because of how comfortable it was and how well it fit. I also love the peter pan collar and feel that this could fit into the Americana category as well!

Vintage floral print pleated skirt

Sarah: I am so excited about this skirt! It is tea length (my favorite skirt length!) and it is floral print (my favorite print!). It also feature lovely pleats along the hips that flare out into larger pleats at the bottom of the skirt. I plan to wear this skirt with a simple navy blue top and denim jacket!

It’s finally warming up in Columbus! The Babes are enjoying today’s weather in style!

Manicure Monday: Hologram

I just found this awesome holographic top coat from Revlon called holographic pearls and it is mesmerizing! It was really hard for me to capture the crazy sparkle that happens in the sunlight. I put two coats over a silver metallic polish from Sephora and it really makes the sparkle pop. I’m definitely going to be using this top coat all summer!

Beauty Routines: Haircare

Today The Babes will be going over their typical haircare routines and discussing some of their favorite products!

Sarah’s Haircare Products

1. Kenneth’s Lighten Up Conditioner

2. Kenneth’s Maximum Volume Shampoo

3. L’Oreal Blow Dry It Quick Dry Primer Spray

4. Big Sexy Hair Play & Spray

5. Dove Dry Shampoo

Sarah: My hair is naturally straight, very fine (though I have a lot of it), and tends to get oily quickly. If I want to feel confident in my hair’s appearance I have to shower and wash it every single day. Since my hair has very little natural volume, I like to start each day with a little boost from my shampoo! I get my hair cut at Kenneth’s Salon and I’ve found that their line of products really are best for my hair. Kenneth’s Maximum Volume Shampoo gives my hair that little something extra, especially when I follow it up with their Lighten Up Conditioner. This stuff is awesome. It smells wonderful and leaves my hair feeling soft and clean. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely hate blow drying my hair! Unfortunately, for me it is a daily chore. This new blow dry primer from L’Oreal has made my routine much easier and quicker. Normally it would take me about five minutes to dry my hair, but with this product it only takes two and it doubles as a heat protectant. I really only use hair spray if I’m pinning part of my hair back or curling it, but when I do use it I use Play & Spray by Big Sexy Hair. It holds all day while still allowing for a lot of movement! I tried tons of different dry shampoos before I found Dove’s and now I am loyally committed to this brand! I use dry shampoo everyday whether my hair is greasy or not. Even on a normal day when I get up, shower, blow dry and straighten my hair I still like to spray a bit of dry shampoo on my roots. It goes a long way towards preventing my hair from getting oily throughout the day and helps to add a little extra volume. Also, it’s only $3.99 per can! Dove’s dry shampoo is hands down the best one on the market and gives you the best bang for your buck.

Emily’s Haircare Products

  1. Garnier Fructis Full Control Anti Humidity Hairspray
  1. Amika Nourishing Mask
  1. Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle
  1. Lush Squeaky Green Shampoo Bar
  1. Dove Dry Shampoo

Emily: I have super thick and puffy hair that doesn’t get greasy very often so I typically only wash it about once or twice a week. I either wear it down and use my curling wand to give myself mermaid waves or I wear it up in a bun or two. I love using Lush’s Shampoo bars which you can find my previous review of here! I then use an amazing hair mask that I found through Birchbox from Amika. It smells amazing and is super moisturizing, which I need since I don’t wash my hair often! Since my hair is so thick, even when I use a hair mask I still need something to help me detangle. This detangler from Beauty Protector, that I also discovered through Birchbox, is perfect. It smells divine and does an awesome job at detangling my mane without weighing my hair down! When I curl my hair I usually leave it that way for about 3 days. I use a curling wand (best invention ever!) and layers of this Garnier Fructis hairspray, which I’ve been using for as long as I can remember, to create the desired effect. It holds all day, isn’t sticky, and even battles humidity! And last but not least Dove’s dry shampoo is perfect for the second or third hair day. It gives your hair a refreshing boost without looking chalky. Sarah actually introduced me to it!
