Sarah here! Today I’ll be reviewing Essie’s Holiday Kit for 2014. I received this kit as a Christmas gift, but it is available on Essie’s website. You can buy it here!
Essie Holiday Kit 2014
The kit includes five colors: Mademoiselle, Smokin’ Hot, Butler Please, Bahama Mama, & Jazzy Jubilant. I genuinely love all of these colors! They are diverse, but they also compliment each other nicely. And while this is advertised as a holiday kit, I believe some of these colors, especially Mademoiselle & Butler Please, could easily transition into other seasons. The bottles are slightly smaller than typical Essie bottles, but this kit is a great deal at $15.00. As always, Essie’s polish goes on smoothly and coats evenly. I highly recommend this set!
Smokin’ Hot & Jazzy Jubilant
I wanted to show a few of the colors from the kit for today’s Manicure Monday so I decided to do a glitter gradient! I started by applying two coats of Smokin’ Hot and then adding the Jazzy Jubilant overtop. I’m really happy with how these turned out! This would be a perfect, festive manicure for any New Year’s celebration!
One of the many lovely bridges in Pittsburgh.
These babes had the opportunity to visit Pittsburgh for the day and we had an amazing time! The drive from Columbus was just over three hours and we arrived around 10am. We spent the whole day exploring the city with a great friend of ours who was kind enough to give us the grand tour. Pittsburgh is truly a beautiful and inspiring place!
Emily: I’ve never been to Pittsburgh before so it was quite the experience! Driving into the city was gorgeous. Sarah told me before we left that entering the city was really cool because you approach a huge hill and go through a tunnel. You get to the other side and it opens up with this huge, tall city that appears right before your eyes. The city is set up like Cincinnati – a city that I’ve visited many times, but it was so much bigger. The Andy Warhol museum was one of my favorite parts of the trip. I’ve seen a few of his pieces in person but it was amazing seeing some of his work that I’ve only ever seen in my art history text-book. I had no idea how large-scale some of them were! The perfect end to our night was seeing the stunning view of the Pittsburgh skyline and then enjoying a beer and great food from Primanti Brothers with two of my best friends.

Sarah: I had been to Pittsburgh once before while assisting with a Victoria’s Secret store remodel, but this time was much more enjoyable. It was nice to actually be able to explore the city and see what it had to offer. We began our day by eating at Pamela’s. They have, hands down, the best breakfast food I have ever tasted! President Obama must agree because he frequently flies these Pittsburgh chefs to the white house to prepare his own breakfast. How awesome is that?? After breakfast we visited The Andy Warhol Museum. As a pop art lover, it was awesome for me to see some of Warhol’s early work, as well as, some of his most famous pieces. We also had the opportunity to visit the Carnegie Science Center which had an incredible animated, miniature model of the city. I love miniatures so I was really excited about that! After nightfall, we drove up to Washington Point to get a view of the city lights. What a magical way to end an excellent day! I can’t wait to visit Pittsburgh again in the future!
